Maximize The Mobile Call Experience
HIGHLIGHTS
- Move subscribers out of the Churn Zone
- Increase GSM network capacity
- Free up spectrum for 3G services
Mobile service providers in mature markets seek to differentiate their services through quality, and to lower the cost of churn. Carriers in early stage markets must support subscriber growth by increasing network capacity. In both cases, mobile service providers have begun the transition to 3G technologies and services.
Each of these goals must be accomplished without compromising voice quality. We work with our customers to achieve these objectives while maintaining or improving the call experience. Business conditions, technologies and costs may change, but the requirement for consistent, high-quality voice service never goes away. It's our business to help our customers dynamically tune voice and measure voice service for these multiple requirements.
Equally important, optimizing voice requires a full understanding of what subscribers are experiencing, and quantifying the impact on voice quality of all the variables in the network and in the subscriber's environment. We deliver this knowledge to our customers, and coupled with mitigating these impairments in real time, the opportunity we provide to mobile industry is compelling:
Churn and Service Differentiation: Our solution has increased the Mean Opinion Score (MOS) by more than half a point, resulting in a significant percentage of calls moving out of the "Churn Zone." The Churn Zone is the percentage of calls whose voice quality falls below the industry minimum MOS, or the minimum score set by the carrier.
Network Capacity: We have enabled the increased use of low bitrate codecs (GSM-HR & AMR-HR) in GSM networks up to 20% or more during busy hour, without the expected degradation in voice quality. This is a highly successful strategy for congestion relief when aggressive use of half-rate is required to serve high-volume calling areas.
3G Services: Our solution enables cost-effective deployment of UMTS broadband data services at 900 MHz, by increasing GSM voice capacity on the remaining GSM frequencies–without sacrificing voice quality.
Our customers have achieved these objectives at a cost that can be up to 12 times less than solving the same problems by deploying more infrastructure. Equally important, adding infrastructure doesn't fully solve the root problem of sub-standard voice quality.
Voice quality. Network capacity. Next-generation technologies. Our customers achieve these goals without compromising the reason subscribers buy mobile service in the first place: to hear and be heard. Clearly.
